Each month’s selection will feature a mix of everyday bottles with some delightful surprises. With each pickup we will provide interesting info about our featured bottles.

And as a perk for our Wine Club members, we’ll hold complimentary bites-and-sips events at Mockingbird throughout the year.

Our focus this month is "Women in Wine"

This month we focus on wines produced by women in an industry that tends to be thought of as more of a "boys club". 

Tolaini- one of our featured wineries - was founded by Lia Tolaini's father Pier Luigi Tolaini.  Lia has championed female produced wines, importing many to the US through her import company started in 2004.  Lia encouraged her father to produce Sangiovese forward wines at a time when 'world' varietals were the main focus.  Since then, they have gone on to focus on their Sangiovese being the star in several of their wines, removing it from their Cabernet and Cab Franc based wines.  Lia felt that the beauty of Sangiovese was overrun by these bigger grapes.  In their Al Passo- a wine that is 85% Sangiovese - the 15% of Merlot deepens it slightly and brings a touch of the darker fruit you might expect.  It is an elegant Sangiovese with a little added depth.​
